Bluenose II
« on: August 11, 2014, 09:38:41 AM »
I just read that the BN2 is years delayed in repairs and millions over budget. Its not the actual Bluenose, that's why its called Bluenose 2> So question is...is it worth saving at this point? Why not build a new replica of the original? What's so magic about the BN2?

Yeah, I heard 20 million total cost. Its impossible that they couldn't build another replica for that amount of money, unless Canada's shipbuilding skills have been entirely lost.

As a so-called have-not province I don't think Nova Scotia has any business spending so much money on an old boat. No tourists have seen it in years so saying it is a "tourist attraction" is just not real. Scrap it.

By the sounds of it, there are bits rotting away that can't be replaced faster than other bits rust away. If the need a tourist draw then they should just start over. Nova Scotians may care about that particular old bucket of bolts but the tourists won't know the difference.
